A new company named Mad Genius has unveiled a prototype of its controller technology, which allows players to interact with games via gestures and motion. The interesting part about the demo is that it works with existing releases, supporting titles that didn't previously incorporate such inputs.
The video demo below shows off how the controller works in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a popular hack magnet. One of the more interesting aspects of the controller is how it splits into two smaller halves, allowing players to wield a bow in much the same way as in the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The system uses a processor and a series of sensors on the television (three on the bottom, and one on the top of the screen) to determine where the controller is at any given moment. Mad Genius says the tech is accurate to 1/100th of an inch, which means players have to hold their breath while firing the bow in the Skyrim demo, for example.?
Mad Genius?is quick to point out that what you see here is a wired, working prototype, and that it's not designed to be pretty. The company says it's planning to eventually raise money on Kickstarter to fund production. If you have any questions, visit Mad Genius' Tumblr page and fire away.
